Induction, training and support will be provided, but the postholder is also expected to be self-motivated and to be able to take the initiative. A flexible approach is required, reflecting the nature of the role. It is expected that the role will be based in different teams over the period of the contract, reflecting the varied nature of the expected projects. The post holder must be able to work effectively with a range of colleagues across Keniston’s staff team.

All team members are expected to develop their skills throughout their employment, apply fair working practices and respect differences.

The role includes a supported 6-month development programme delivered by Charityworks. The programme will equip you with the connections, experiences, tools and insight needed to succeed at work, help you to build a peer community of fellows and give you the skills to transition well beyond the placement, and develop long term careers in the non-profit sector.

Skills and requirements

The post holder should have an understanding of the ethos of social housing and be committed to helping to achieve Keniston’s wider social purpose. Formal qualifications are not essential, but the postholder must be willing and able to learn. An awareness of the key principles of data protection is an advantage. They should be able to use MS Office effectively, and have some awareness of data handling and digital processing, as well as good verbal, written and numeric skills.
