The Benefit Cap is reducing and will be set at £20,000 for a household outside London and £23,000 for households within London. Exceptions include those where any member of the household is disabled, or a single parent working more than 16 hours per week. Households already affected by the £26,000 Benefit Cap will be notified of the reduced cap at the same time as new households. Tenants that will be affected by the Benefit Cap from the autumn have been identified by the Department for Work and Pensions, and will have received a letter outlining the impact of the cap on their income.
