Don’t Tolerate Hate Crime, Tell Someone

Posted on the 9th March 2018

Unity in the community

Hate incidents and crimes have grown in number in recent years even though they remain comparatively few.  Hate crimes are any crimes that are targeted at a person because of hostility or prejudice towards that person’s disability, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation, transgender identity.

We have updated our policy covering the different types of hate crime covering how we will deal with complaints and giving feedback to residents so they are encouraged to feel they can safely report incidents to Keniston.  Complainants will be kept updated throughout the investigation, putting them first and involving them in the process from the outset.

Hate crime in any form is wrong and that’s why it is important that if hate crime happens to you or someone you know, that you report it.

How to report a hate crime

  • Contact the police – (always dial 999 in an emergency)
  • Report online or download a form from report-it-org.uk
  • Contact crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111
